Lake Life
Over the winter, our lakeside deck was visited by raccoons, possums, a couple of skunks, groundhogs, two otters, a fox, a coyote (a few times), and a Great Blue Heron.
The lake was home to Canada Geese, Mallard ducks, comorants, more Great Blue Herons, swallows, and (occasionally) a Bald Eagle. And then there were the carp, bass, and Mr. T (a turtle).
The lake is endlessly fascinating. Sunsets are incredible. Deckside conversations with our wonderful neighbors are always spirited and fun. Most nights we have dinner in the Man Cave, which is always calming and restful.
I don’t swim in the lake. I don’t kayak or float around. I don’t put a toe in the water.
What I do is appreciate. I appreciate the lake. The wildlife. The sunsets. The moon shining over the lake with geese floating around, perhaps sleeping...perhaps avoiding the coyotes.
Lake life.
