Give A Hoot!

Have you noticed that the world is in the midst of a pandemic? Holy cow! It’s tough to stay home—jettison vacations, avoid indoor dining at restaurants, eschew family visits and hugs—but getting the Coronavirus would be even more of a challenge. So…hiking, reading, writing, and gardening have taken bigger roles in my life. And, honestly, it’s a welcome change from the busyness that always seemed to occupy my days.

Another new and happy way to spend a little time—on a rainy day or with colder days ahead of us—is that time-honored pastime of pulling out a box of crayons and a favorite coloring book. Yes…coloring finally made its comeback. Check out Give a Hoot!: Burrowing Owl Photo, Fact, and Coloring Book by wildlife photographer Rayne Covault (and illustrated by Mar Fandos). Photos and illustrations of burrowing owls are complemented by information about these now-endangered birds, and all proceeds earned from book sales are given to the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife and will be used to help protect the wildlife of Cape Coral, Florida.
