Schitt$ Creek (sort of) Review
Will someone (anyone!) please do me a favor and watch all six seasons of Schitt$ Creek and then send me a message or post something on Facebook about it? I need another person who will talk with me about this fantastic...hilarious...warm...heart-touching series.
It was my daughter-in-law (heart emoji) who suggested the series to me and, as usual, her recommendation was spot on. Over this past COVID-19 winter (2021), my husband and I watched all six seasons. He liked it; I loved it. I loved it so much that I re-watched the whole thing, picking up tidbits along the way. (“Ewwwww..DAVID!”... “Fold in the cheese,”... “Gossip is the Devil’s telephone. Best to just hang up.”... “Into the wine, not the label.”... and so many other great one-liners.)
And then there are the scenes...each one better than the one before. There’s Moira locked in the closet while the motel is on fire. There’s Patrick serenading David at the open mic at Rose Apothecary. There’s Stevie’s performance in Cabaret. There’s Alexis doing community service work. There’s Mr. Rose’s New York City pitch. And Twyla...always Twyla with a smile and a surprising amount of... Never mind. I don’t want to give it away.
Co-created by Canadians Eugene (Best in Show...Waiting for Guffman...and dozens more) and his son Dan Levy, the series first aired on TV in January 2015, and it ended—by their choice—in April 2020. The cast is fantastic (Catherine O’Hara is, as usual, phenomenal), as is the writing, and although I wish I had boarded the Schitt$ Creek train when it first came out, I’m glad to have watched it during a particularly dark time in our country and the world. Each episode was a guaranteed 25 minutes of fun.
It’s on Netflix. What are you waiting for? Jump on board and start watching.....
