Get Ready for Good Things

At the end of my yoga class today (One Love Yoga in Kent, Ohio), our teacher (Anne) said “get ready for good things in your life.”

What a great reminder.

It seems as though I have spent the past several years concentrating on some truly negative things. From political divides in our country to the pandemic to the horrors of Putin’s Russia invading peaceful Ukraine and its courageous people...I watch the news and recoil in anger, sorrow, fear, upset. After all, what can one person do?

Okay. That’s not accurate. One person can do a lot (write to elected officials...peacefully protest...live individually with integrity and joy for all people...vote). But calming the mind is a challenge.

For me, practicing yoga creates a peaceful place. And even though thoughts often rush in while I’m practicing, I do find moments of quiet. Sometimes that is enough. To have Anne’s suggestion to prepare for the good stuff...there is one moment of joy. Yes. I can do that. I can be ready—and embrace—every joyful, happy, positive, good thing that comes my way.

Today. Sunshine. That’s a moment that extends into the afternoon and toward sunset. I’m ready...
